Introduction |
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Structure & Materials) degree course is the second academic programme offered at the Faculty. This course emphasise on the study of engineering structural component and engineering materials. The field of study in structural engineering covers structural mechanics and materials, and structural analysis using Finite Element Method. Software such as AutoCAD and Solid Works are used to design engineering structure and component. In addition, stress and strain analysis and strength of materials are also studied in-depth. Laboratory work is conducted with up-to-date equipments and facilities such as INSTRON Universal Testing Machine which is specifically for statics and dynamics testing condition. The field of study in materials engineering emphasised on characterization and behaviour of various engineering materials, including metallic and non-metallic materials, polymers, ceramics, composites and advanced materials. Students are taught on advanced materials courses to fulfill their specialization field such as Metallurgy, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Engineering Materials Characterization as well as Advanced Materials and Composites. In practical work, students are exposed to various metallic and non-metallic processing and testing techniques. Some of the common NDT method such as Penetrant Inspection, Eddy Current Inspection, Magnetic Particle Inspection and Ultrasonic Inspection are also exposed to the student. Graduates from this course will work in the various industrial positions such as:
