Introduction |
The Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Design & Innovation) degree programme begins in the 2003/2004 Session. It is basically a Mechanical Engineering degree programme with specialization on mechanical design and innovation. The area of mechanical engineering design and innovation is important in order to keep in pace with the rapid technological development to meet industries requirements. The degree programme is very much related to area of innovation of products, new product development (NPD), engineering design analysis and design improvement of existing products. This requires substantial amount of technical skill in using computer technology to assist students in designing creative and innovative products. Examples of software used are AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Alias, MSC ADAMS and MSC. Nastran and others. Students will also be exposed to the latest technology in prototype and model-making using state-of-the-art equipment. Among topics covered are Advanced Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Engineering (CAE), Innovation and Creativity, Prototypes Development Technologies, Design Reliability & Quality, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), and Design Optimization & Analysis. |
